Resume Links

Resume links let visitors return to the Client Onboarding form and finish exactly where they left off — with everything they entered already filled in.

How It Works

When a visitor starts the onboarding form, the plugin creates a lead with a personal resume link. When they click that link (from a reminder email, SMS, or a link you send manually):

  1. The plugin checks that the link is valid, active, not expired, and that the signup isn't already completed
  2. The visitor is redirected to the onboarding page with all their saved answers pre-filled — fields, sliders, dropdowns, and multi-selects
  3. Any further changes they make continue updating the same lead — no duplicates

Tokens are 6 characters, letters and numbers, randomly generated. Similar-looking characters (0/O, 1/I) are never used, so links are easy to read out over the phone. Example: https://yoursite.com/lr/A7K29P

Resume links expire a set number of days after the visitor's last activity — configured with Resume Link Expiration in General Settings. Default: 30 days. Set it to 0 for links that never expire.

Because expiry is based on last activity, a visitor who keeps coming back never loses their link.

What Visitors See

Situation Page shown
Link works Onboarding form with their answers pre-filled
Link doesn't exist or was replaced Link Not Found
Link expired Link Expired
Link disabled by an admin Link Disabled
Signup already finished Already Completed

Each page includes a button back to your homepage.

Fields Not Restored

For security and a smooth experience, these are never saved or restored — the visitor selects them again:

  • Credit card and payment details
  • Payment method
  • The "card on file" question

From the lead record you can:

  • Copy or Open the link
  • Regenerate it — the old link stops working immediately
  • Disable or Enable it
